July 15, 2008 (Portland, Oregon) – CoHo Distributing, the intended merged entity of Columbia Distributing Company, Mt. Hood Beverage Company and Gold River Distributing, announced today that it intends to acquire the western Washington beer and portions of the non-alcoholic beverage business of Alaska Distributors Co. In addition, Young’s Columbia will purchase a portion of Alaska Distributors’ western Washington wine business that will be serviced by CoHo. June 2, 2008 (Portland, Oregon) – Columbia Distributing Company, Mt. Hood Beverage Company and Gold River Distributing announced today that they plan to merge their beer and non-alcoholic beverage distribution businesses in Oregon and Washington, following approval from their respective suppliers. Alcohol Consumption Declining, According To Results Of New Study
Overall alcohol use-particularly consumption of beer-is declining in the US, according to a new study published in the August 2008 issue of The American Journal of Medicine. Researchers examined 50 years of data and found several changes in alcohol intake but no change in alcohol use disorders.
Roll out barrel; grab measuring cup
Move over, wine. Beer is taking its place in the kitchen as a rich, complex ingredient that complements food, whether it's cooked in the recipe, served as a beverage to accompany it, or both. The National Beer Wholesalers Association in Virginia (www.nbwa.org) suggests grilling ribs with their Hawaiian Lager Baby Back Ribs recipe, one of several they publish each month. The marinade of lager, pineapple or orange marmalade, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, chile paste and soy sauce produces an intense flavor.
InBev CEO doesn't buy into perks
The man who would be King of Beers is a no-frills leader without a company car or even his own desk. Carlos Brito, chief executive of brewer InBev SA, says he doesn't care for perks -- and neither should the people who work for him.
BECAUSE "Please drink responsibly" campaign launch
The BECAUSE campaign (Southern Oregon's local beer and wine distributors' contribution to reducing the harm alcohol can cause if misused) officially launched on April 8th.
The campaign is a partnership between Gold River Distributing, Columbia Distributing Co., Western Beverage Co., SODA, Oregon Partnership, On Track Inc., United Way, & KOBI-TV NBC 5.

Mt. Hood Beverage donating equipment to Columbia Industries
Columbia Industries (CI) will receive equipment donated by the Mt. Hood Beverage Company that will help CI in preparation for providing wine club fullfillment assistance according to a release from the company. Senators Jerome Delvin and Mike Hewitt recentl sponsored and championed the passage of a bill allowing "value added services" to be provided for the wine industry by qualified third-party entities. This includes wine club fulfillment, bottle labeling, creating gift baskets, and shipping wine orders direct to consumers. "I am pleased to have spearheaded this legislation enabling Columbia Industries to provide a much-needed service for our growing wine industry while meeting their mission of training people with disabilities," said Sen. Delvin. The equipment will be dismantled April 18 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Hood's Vista Field warehouse. Both senators have been invi! ted to attend the ceremony, as well as representatives from Mt. Hood Beverage and CI.
Classic Wines Auction reaps record $3 million for charities

Mt. Hood Beverage Reaching Out For Those in Need

Pabst Brewing Company is extending its slow-burn strategy of rolling out Schlitz in bottles on-premise at premium pricing. That's right, Pabst is introducing a 1960s-era recipe of Schlitz in select markets where Schlitz historically had strongholds, targeting older boomers who remember Schlitz in from its glory days.
